MCA 2023 Keynote Speaker
John Nicholson
Associate Professor of Communication, Mississippi State University

John Nicholson, a native of Memphis, Tenn., earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in communication at the University of Memphis. He studied with Steve Duck, Leslie Baxter, Randy Hirokawa, and Kristine Fitchearned while completing doctoral studies in communication at the University of Iowa, with a focus on communication theory and rhetorical theory; interpersonal communication; and family and small group communication.

Prior to joining the faculty at Mississippi State, Nicholson taught at Angelo State University in San Marcos, Tex.
Nicholson has written a textbook in communication theory and has published numerous articles exploring communication theories in different contexts and their use in a wide array of methods and methodologies.

John and his wife Elizabeth have three children, two of whom have graduated from Mississippi State, and one who is currently a Bulldog.

MCA encourages and welcomes submissions to the annual conference from any educator, researcher, student, or professional in any of the many fields of work and research related to communication studies, mass communication, and journalism.

MCA 2023 will be held in Anderson Hall on the second floor of the B.C. Rogers Student Center on the Mississippi College campus in Clinton.

Registration

Early registration is now open for MCA 2023 at the following rates:
  • Faculty & Staff (& all other non-student attendees): $35.00
  • Students (graduate & undergraduate): $10.00
Early rates are guaranteed through February 1, 2023.  After February 1, 2023, faculty and staff rates will increase to $40.00.  (Student rates will remain at $10.00.)  Register below using PayPal.

Registration is accepted for individuals only.  Group registration is not available.  Please do not increase the quantity of registrations in PayPal to more than one.
